Collaboration between KLM and Garuda Indonesia

KLM and Garuda Indonesia, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year, will intensify their collaboration on the Amsterdam – Jakarta route and vice versa in the coming year. Both airlines have a codeshare agreement on this route, which is being revitalized.

As a result, Garuda Indonesia now has the opportunity to offer 6 flights per week between Amsterdam and Jakarta. This includes 2 non-stop flights per week operated by Garuda Indonesia itself and an additional 4 flights per week operated by KLM, with a brief stopover in Kuala Lumpur.

Benefits of codeshare agreement

What does such a codeshare agreement mean for travelers? It means that passengers can book one ticket for their entire journey, including connecting flights, regardless of whether they are flying with Garuda Indonesia or KLM. This offers flexibility and convenience for passengers, as they do not need to book separate tickets and check in for different segments of their journey.

Another benefit of this collaboration is the extensive network available to travelers. Garuda Indonesia offers a wide range of domestic destinations in Indonesia, as well as flights to other Asian destinations. On the other hand, KLM has a strong presence in Europe, with routes to popular cities such as Paris, London, and Rome. Through this collaboration, travelers can benefit from a wide choice of destinations and smooth connections on their travel route.

Frequent Flyer benefits

Additionally, frequent business travelers flying with Garuda Indonesia and KLM also enjoy joint frequent flyer benefits. Garuda Indonesia is part of the SkyTeam alliance program, while KLM is a member of the Flying Blue program. This means that passengers can earn and use frequent flyer miles with both airlines, regardless of which airline they fly with. This makes it easy for travelers to maintain or upgrade their status, regardless of their travel route.

Overall, the collaborative efforts between Garuda Indonesia and KLM have led to an improved travel experience for passengers between Indonesia and Europe. The codeshare agreement has provided more choice and convenience, as well as shared frequent flyer benefits and access to lounges. This makes flying with Garuda Indonesia and KLM an attractive option for travelers looking for a seamless connection between both regions.
