The NATO summit will be held for the first time in the Netherlands on June 24 and 25, 2025. This will affect runway usage at Schiphol. From 9:00 PM on June 21 until 9:00 AM on June 27, there will be restrictions, meaning not all normal flight slots will be available.
Logistical Organization of Flight Slots
The restrictions require significant logistical coordination at Schiphol. A careful procedure has been put in place to limit the number of available flight slots.
Flights at Schiphol
So far, the impact of these restrictions seems manageable, according to the ANVR. The following information is currently available:
- KLM: Several hundred cancellations and schedule changes.
- Transavia: A small number of cancellations and schedule changes.
- British Airways, Lufthansa and Vueling: A small number of cancellations and schedule changes.
- 14 other airlines: Mainly schedule changes.
In total, less than 10% of flights will be affected by cancellations, with a significant portion of those being KLM flights. The majority of the other airlines have a maximum of 4 slot pairs per day and do not need to surrender any slots. For these airlines, there may only be some flight changes.
KLM has informed the ANVR that they will minimize the impact on customers by consolidating flights, etc. We will, of course, continue to monitor the situation closely and keep our customers informed as soon as more information becomes available.
