To celebrate e-Business Travel’s 20th anniversary, which was previously not possible due to the Covid pandemic, we took a special trip to Croatia at the end of September. With almost the entire team, we travelled by KLM to Split on Friday morning after an extensive tour at Schiphol Airport. There we were welcomed by our colleagues from the Group Travel & MICE department, who had arrived a day earlier along with some other travel consultants. This way work could still go on as usual and the emergency service remained operational.
Proud
‘Almost 23 years ago, we started with a small office and a handful of employees in Ridderkerk. Over the years, we have grown considerably and now have four disciplines; Corporate, Marine, Group Travel & MICE and HumanitAir. In that time we have experienced great highlights, but also faced challenges such as the ash cloud in Iceland and of course the Covid period. We always got through it with a very experienced, loyal team; that team is our strength. I am therefore proud that with three offices and over 50 employees, we can now celebrate this anniversary in Split’ said Cees Bas, Managing Director of e-Business Travel.
Culture and gastronomy
The first activity of the trip was a traditional Dalmatian lunch on the sunny terrace of a restaurant, beautifully situated in the hills overlooking Split and the Adriatic Sea. We then checked into the luxurious hotel Ambasador, right by the sea and a few minutes’ walk from Split’s lively promenade. The afternoon was filled with an exploration of Diocletian’s Palace and a stroll through the charming streets of the old town, accompanied by two guides. The day ended festively with a lovely dinner.
Special transport
On Saturday, an adventurous day was scheduled. In the morning, four luxury speedboats took us to the island of Hvar in less than an hour. The turbulent sea made for an exciting trip with lots of laughter on board. Once we arrived on Hvar, colourful Volkswagen Beetle convertibles were waiting for us to explore the picturesque landscape. The route passed olive groves and winding mountain roads. After a tasty lunch at a cosy family restaurant, there was time to explore the picturesque town of Hvar.
The day ended again in Split with dinner, drinks and music.
New label
This anniversary trip was also an excellent moment for e-Business Travel to unveil a novelty to all employees. The Group Travel, Luxury Travel & MICE department is introducing a brand new label and the name and logo for this label were presented in Split. Brainstorming sessions with the entire team took place in Split to further elaborate and shape the concept. As soon as the new website is ready, the label will be officially launched.
Teambuilding and lots of fun
Carla Bronscheer says: ‘It was a fantastic weekend, in which we laughed a lot and colleagues really got to know each other better, but we also worked hard. Moreover, it was nice to see our colleagues from Group Travel & MICE at work; only now do you realise how much work is involved in organising such a group trip. Everything was organised to perfection and everything was thought of, what an organisation.’
On Sunday, after a sumptuous breakfast, we flew back to the Netherlands with suitcases full of memories, stories and countless photos. The trip turned out to be a weekend full of adventure, team spirit and fun and provided a wonderful way to celebrate this milestone together.
